SEGA has released a new trailer for Sonic Generations, a new game in development to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 20th Anniversary.
The game features levels derived from 20 years of Sonic history, spreading across three eras: Classic, Dreamcast and Modern. Each level can be played with either Classic Sonic or Modern Sonic, each taking their own routes throughout the level. Classic Sonic’s levels are strictly two dimensional side scrolling stages, using classic moves like the Spin Attack and Spin Dash while Modern Sonic’s levels follow a gameplay style similar to more recent entries in the series, with the console versions using the 2D/3D style gameplay of Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors, featuring homing attacks, boosting, and the quick step and the 3DS version using the 2D gameplay of the recent Sonic Rush series.
The 3rd person prespective show how great the graphics look.
Sonic’s universe is thrown into chaos when a mysterious new power creates ‘time holes’ which pull him and his friends back through time. As a result he encounters some surprises from his past history including Classic Sonic, Sonic as he appeared in 1991. Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic must defeat this strange new enemy, save their friends, and find out who really is behind this diabolical deed…
Currently in production by Sonic Team for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo 3DS, the game will be released by Sega on November 22, 2011.
