Float Hybrid Entertainment Kinect technology
Float Hybrid Entertainment is an incubator, prototyper and producer with an eclectic and impressive network of friends and alliances within interactive, cinema, broadcast and online.
The company was formed in 2009, by Academy Award winning visual effects designer John Gaeta (Matrix Trilogy) and partners, with a charter to visualize, develop and enable emergent entertainment, methods and creative properties across interconnected platforms.
Above, John introduces Float Hybrid Entertainment via real-time volumetric video capture using multiple networked Kinect cameras, while below, is a prototype game concept showing off a mobile device being used to control a 3D version of Snake. Other inputs such as gestures and audio frequency can also change elements of the game.
In the video below, players can build their own music using Monome style instruments inside a virtual world, using a Kinect driven character. Each wall is a music sequencer with notes to form patterns of melody, while the central pads are the drum machine. Players can use their right hand to draw, left hand to erase and change the tempo faster or slower.
