MicroBot is a new action arcade shooter from EA where players pilot a microscopic ship and battle a techno-biological infection inside the fluid world of the human body. The shoot ’em up, still in development, will provide a “unique gameplay experience” inside the human body as the theater of war.
The story of the game centers around the idea that a high tech medical company called MicroHexon Research has invented nano sized machines that can be injected into the body in order to destroy disease at a cellular level. However, things go wrong and the machines start multiplying and taking over the human.
Players are sent on a journey through the human body via a MicroBot, a kind of cell sized armoured vehicle, from what we can tell, to seek and destroy the machines before all is lost. EA say the game will take you through veins, bones, lungs and brain in order to battle with the enemy machines. EA say that the game will be different every time you play, just like each of our bodies are different.
As you progress through levels you get various new items of technology which you can use to customize your MicroBot. There are millions of possible configurations using various weapons, defense systems, moving parts and special abilities.
New gaming experience
Electronic Arts spokesman Jason Haber said, “We wanted to take gamers to a place they have rarely visited before — the world inside the human body. The fluid dynamics of the world and the customization of the MicroBot come together to create a unique take on the arcade shooter genre”.
Using the Xbox Live or Playstation Network platform, players can team up together and work on a joint MicroBot team giving a co-operative multi-player experience.
The MicroBot game is being developed in partnership with Naked Sky Entertainment and will be coming to the Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network in early 2011.
